TEC-CoWork has two separate sign-ins. Most questions about “why can’t I see my models” come from mixing them up.

Your TEC-CoWork account

This is the account you registered at cowork.te-consulting.at. The desktop app asks for it the first time you open it, and nothing in the app works until you sign in. Signing in does two things:
  1. Unlocks the app.
  2. Fetches your personal AI gateway key, which is what your sessions use to reach the models included in your plan.
That key belongs to you alone. Usage runs against your own account, not a shared team key.
If you sign out and back in, the app re-fetches your key and the current model list. That is the quickest fix if models look stale or wrong.

Your workspace account (optional)

Separately, the app can connect to your organisation’s TEC-CoWork workspace — the sidebar shows Sync with TEC-CoWork Cloud at the bottom left. This is what gives you shared plugins, MCP connections, team policies and cloud workers. You do not need it to use TEC-CoWork on your own machine. You do need it if your team shares configuration or you use cloud workers.

Which models you get

Models come from your TEC-CoWork plan, not from any key you supply. TEC-CoWork does not support bringing your own OpenAI or Anthropic key — every request goes through the TEC gateway so usage, cost and data handling stay in one place. See Models for what is available.

If the model picker is empty

In order of likelihood:
  1. Sign out and back in. Re-fetches your key and the model list.
  2. Restart the app. Some organisation settings are only read at startup.
  3. Ask your workspace admin whether the organisation is set to Managed mode. In Managed mode you only see models the organisation has published; if it has published none, the picker is empty.
If none of that helps, use Feedback in the account menu — it opens a support ticket with your app version and platform already filled in.
